How to adjusting security settings if Elevate will not start

Modified on Wed, 6 Aug, 2025 at 2:10 PM

In some instances, Elevate will not start because it is blocked by security software that does not trust it. Here is the procedure to ensure Elevate is trusted by Microsoft Windows Defender running on Windows 11. Other security software and operating systems will have different, but similar procedures:

Use the search option to find and start Windows Defender.

Within Windows Defender, select "Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall".

Click on "Change Settings"

And then "Allow another app..."

Navigate to where Elevate is installed, normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Elevate 9

One at a time, select Elevate, DispatchY and DispatchZ.

Click on Add. Tick both Public and Private.

Now close Windows Defender. Elevate should now start.
